The Summer School entitled "EU Enlargement in the Western Balkans and the New Institutional Culture - The Role of Democracy", which will take place in 18-20 of  July 2022 in Mytilene, aims to highlight the importance of Institutional Culture both in EU enlargement policies and in the deepening, consolidation and further cultivation of democracy in EU member states.

This year's Summer School program supports and enhances the field of European studies, as it includes the study of the EU as a whole, with a particular focus on the process of EU integration and enlargement, both in its internal and external aspects. Its structure promotes better knowledge of the architecture of EU governance, history, and the link with countries in the process of accession, EU external actions, European identity building, and EU policies, in terms of the European Commission's priorities for 2019-2024.

The Summer School will provide different teaching methods, mainly consisting of activities (seminars, workshops, round table discussions, etc.). Its main objective is to provide an in-depth analysis of both the importance of the "use" of institutional culture as a democratic tool in the process of EU enlargement in the sensitive area of the Western Balkans and the EU's enlargement process. The main objective of the study is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the EU's role in the process of enlarging the EU in the sensitive Balkan region and as a means of promoting democracy, which is one of the EU's objectives in the wider world (as defined in Article 3 of the Lisbon Treaty) and one of the EU's priorities.
