The Summer School entitled “THE EUROPEAN UNION AS A GLOBAL POWER  Of  VALUES: THE ROLE OF ENLARGEMENT IN THE PROMOTION OF ITS VALUES ” and the time of the June 2024 aims to highlight the importance of the European Union as a global force for values and a normative power both in EU enlargement policies and in deepening, consolidating and further cultivating democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights in the candidate countries and with third countries.

The Summer School  «EU.E.N.I.C 2024», provides in-depth knowledge of the European Union institutions, EU political culture, EU decision-making process, European governance, European enlargement and the concepts of European identity and EU policies as regards the European Commission's priorities for 2019-2024. The lecture structure promotes a better knowledge of the EU history and the link to the countries in the process of accession, the EU's external actions, European identity building and EU policies. 

The Summer School will be held in Lesvos in June 27-29.06.2024 and will provide different teaching methods, consisting mainly of activities (seminars, workshops, round table discussions, etc.). Its main aim is to provide an in-depth analysis of both the importance of the "use" of enlargement process as a democratic tool in the process of the EU to the sensitive area of the W. Balkans, and  as an instrument for the promotion of the European Values  in the wider world (as defined in Article 3 of the Lisbon Treaty) and one of the EU's priorities.

The team of associate professors has excellent teaching and rich research experience in this area, which is also a guarantee for the success of the Summer School's objectives.

This summer School offers 3 ECTS to participants who will accomplish the program and the final examination procedure.
