Andreas Treske

He is an editor, filmmaker, and media artist living in Turkey. He graduated from the University of Television and Film Munich, directing department. From 1992 till 1998 he was a creative art staff at HFF Munich doing extensive research on applied aesthetics for cinema and TV. From 1998 – 2010 he was teaching at the Department of Communication and Design at Bilkent University, Ankara, film and video
production, new media theory; he was the chair of the department from 2005 till 2010. Currently he teaches film production and documentary filmmaking in the Department of Media & Communication at Izmir University of Economics. He participated at international exhibitions of interactive media works, his various short films were screened on international film festivals. His co-directed feature length documentary “Takim boyle tutulur” was screened in Autumn 2005 in more
than 50 Turkish cinemas. In 2008 he was the picture editor of the feature length cinema documentary “Mustafa”, directed by Can Dündar. He was the organizer of the 3rd Video Vortex conference in Ankara and is a corresponding member of CILECT, the international association of Film schools.

In 2013 the Institute of Network Cultures in Amsterdam published his 20.000 word essay "The inner life of video spheres" as No. 6 of the Network Notebook series.

 Gregory Paschalidis

Ηε is Associate Professor of Cultural Studies at the School of Journalism & Mass Communications of Aristotle University (Thessaloniki). Author of The Poetics of Autobiography (1993), Introduction to Modern Culture (2002), Uses and Meanings of Photography (in publ.) and editor of Television and Society ( 1988), The Life of Signs (1996), Semiotics of Culture (2001), Interculturality, Globalisation and Identities (2008), Digital Media and Culture (2010) and Borders, Peripheries, Diasporas (2011). He has contributed to a variety of collective volumes and has published extensively in the fields of literary and cultural theory, mass communication and visual culture, cultural politics and cultural policy.

 


Evi (Evangelia) Sampanikou  EviSampanikou

She is Assistant Professor in Art History at the University of the Aegean (Mytilini/Lesvos-Greece), Department of Cultural Technology and Communication (since 2000). She has studied Archaeology, Art History and Theory and English Literature. Her former research included post-Byzantine painting, Renaissance influences on 16th and 17th century post-Byzantine art  and art theory. Her later research mainly involves with History of Photography and relations between 19th and 20th century Painting and Photography, New Media Art and Theories and Comics History and Theory, while she also involves with Posthumanism. She has founded the Iconotopia research group (a Comics Studies group) at the University of the Aegean and has successfully organized three international Comics Conferences (2003, 2005, 2009) and two two-days Comics Events (2004, 2008)  in Mytilini, as well as  the International Conference Audiovisual Posthumanism (Mytilini 2010) that also included topics on comics (for all see: www.ct.aegean.gr, conferences and events). Her published work includes all the above mentioned topics: a book (1997) and several papers on post-Byzantine art (1991 – 1996), a book on photography (2003) and several publications on New Media Theory and Comics from 2005 to nowadays (see: www.ct.aegean.gr/people/esampa).

and social evolution of Athens as shown in the Greek feature
films of the 20TH  century.
