The AegeanNetCom2017 summer school is hosted by the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering and the Computer and Communication Systems Laboratory, and is organized by the following faculty members:

Demosthenes Vouyioukas, Associate Professor, Scientific Coordinator of the Summer School

Dr. Demosthenes Vouyioukas is an Associate Professor with the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering at the University of the Aegean and Director of Computer and Communication Systems Laboratory. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, a five-year Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering and he has also received a Joint Engineering-Economics MSc all from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). His research interests include mobile and wireless communication systems, channel characterization and propagation models, performance modeling of wireless networks, cooperative wideband systems with relays, wireless sensors and broadband networks, next generation mobile and satellite networks, MIMO and Femtocell technologies.

 

Charalampos Skianis, Associate Professor

Dr. Charalabos Skianis is an Associate Professor, Director of Postgraduate Studies Program and Head of the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering of University of the Aegean. He holds a PhD degree in Computer Science from University of Bradford, UK and a BSc in Physics from Department of Physics, University of Patras, Greece. His current research activities take upon Novel Internet Architectures and Services, Cloud Computing & Networking, Energy & Context aware Next Generation Networks and Services, management aspects of mobile and wireless networks, ubiquitous and pervasive computing and End-to-End Quality of Service provisioning in heterogeneous networks environment. 

 

Georgios Kormentzas, Associate Professor

Dr. Georgios Kormentzas is an Associate Professor at University of the Aegean. He holds a   Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineer (1996) and a PhD degree (2000) both from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Natonal Technical University of Athens. His research interests are in the fields of traffic analysis, network control, resource management and quality of service in wireless & broadband networks. 

 

Christos Goumopoulos, Assistant Professor

Dr. Christos Goumopoulos is an Assistant Professor at University of the Aegean. He holds a Diploma in Computer Engineering and Informatics (1992 from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics and a PhD degree (2000) from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, both from University of Patras. His research interest involves Pervasive Computing System Architectures, Design and Programming of Pervasive Computing Systems, Software Engineering, Programming Models and Frameworks, Middleware Design, Ontological Knowledge Representation, Distributed Systems, Efficient Resource Scheduling Systems and Precision Agriculture.

 

Dimitrios Skoutas, Senior Research Associate

Dr. Dimitriοs Skoutas is currently a member of Computer and Communication Systems Laboratory (CCSL) a research and educational unit in the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering (ICSE) of the University of the Aegean, Greece. He holds a PhD degree in Communication Networks and a Dipl.-Eng (5 years degree) in Electrical and Computer Engineering with major in Telecommunications. His current research activities include context aware Next Generation Networks and Quality of Service provisioning in heterogeneous networks environment. He has also been keenly working on the area of Resource Management and Quality of Service Provisioning in Mobile and Wireless Broadband Networks where he has proposed several algorithmic and architectural optimizations.
